| BNS appoints industry heavyweight to lead IPTV initiatives in China |
[Hong Kong, 23 March 2005] Broadband Network Systems Ltd (BNS), Asia's leading provider of IPTV solutions, has announced the appointment of industry veteran Dr. Jun Hu as China Country Manager based at the company's Beijing office.
In his new capacity, Dr. Hu will lead BNS's business development and project management activities in the area of IPTV deployments in Mainland China.
Dr. Hu is a recognized authority in the IPTV and digital broadcasting arena in China based on his extensive experience in managing major cable TV digitization projects around the country.
Prior to joining BNS, he was Chief Operating Officer of Jadebird Huaguang, part of the Beida Jadebird Group, where he oversaw the company's investments in 10 provincial CATV systems, covering over 30 million subscribers in China.
"We are very excited to have Dr. Hu on board," said BNS's CEO Mr Jeffrey Soong. "With the recent opening of the IPTV market in China, we are looking forward to leveraging his extensive knowledge and relationships in both the telecommunications and broadcasting industries and significantly boost our activities in China," he said.
Realising the market potential early, BNS has been active in China via its Beijing office since March 2004, and has since completed a number of pioneering IPTV projects with leading service providers. Dr. Jun Hu's will head up the company's fast growing team of IPTV specialists in China.
Dr. Hu has over 16 years of experience in technology and broadcasting. He holds an M.S. and Ph. D from the Acoustic Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he majored in DSP parallel processing.
