The 21st century media landscape is increasingly and radically shaped by technology and changing consumer habits, leading to the dividing line between consumers and creators of media content to be blurred forever.
Enter IPTV, which finally seems to have morphed from relative obscurity to prominence and is at the forefront of re-defining the way we consume and interact with digital content. However, while almost every telco is planning, testing, or trialling some sort of IPTV service, and successful deployments can be found both in Asia and Europe, a closer examination of these IPTV services reveals that most operators appear content with offering just the same traditional platforms as cable and satellite.
While multi-channel broadcasting will remain a major part of any TV service and viewing experience, operators should look very closely at how they can leverage the advantages of IP technology for their service offering to ensure long term success.
This session will provide an insight into IPTV's unexplored potential, from optimizing backroom operations to innovating content delivery, which will accelerate the transformation of the old economics of entertainment towards more diverse options for reaching audiences.
