BNS deploys IPTV platform for M2Btv service in Jakarta

[HONG KONG, 18 June 2007] Hong Kong based IP solutions provider BNS has deployed an end-to-end IPTV solution for Singapore's M2B World to launch its M2Btv service in Jakarta next month.

The telco grade IPTV platform deployed by BNS includes IP STBs, middleware, pricing and billing, content protection and a subscriber management system that will enable M2Btv to provide IPTV and eCommerce services to subscribers as well as targeted online advertising opportunities to advertisers.

M2Btv delivers multiple TV channels live over the Internet to homes that have a high-speed internet connection. Subscribers will be provided with a set-top box that connects to their broadband to watch the programs on demand on their TV sets.

"Our service requires a powerful backend to support its varied service offerings", said Ms Yvone Foong, COO of M2B World. "One of the reasons we chose BNS's solution was because it gives us ultimate flexibility in terms of real time rating and billing and allows us to provide very flexible pricing and service plans to meet the needs of our subscribers."

M2Btv will offer a wide variety of content from education, variety, art, life style to movies and entertainment which will be available through a tiered subscription service ranging from free access to premium a la carte. The service will also offer an online advertising service for advertisers to reach their customers.

"We are excited that M2B World chose BNS for their deployment which is a very complex one that goes well beyond simple channel management", said Karl Sin, Vice President Sales of BNS. "As IPTV moves up the value chain to include more complex features and services it is paramount for operators to have a solid backend in place that provides the necessary flexibility to make a service competitive moving forward."

M2B World aims to sign up a total of close to a million subscribers this year for the Jakarta service, which is the second market M2Btv in launching in after Singapore, where the service debuted in July 2006. The service is set to launch in a number of other markets in the region in the near future, including Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Australia Malaysia, and Thailand.

BNS is presenting IPTV platform and new solutions portfolio at booth #6C4-01 in hall 6 at CommunicAsia 2007, which will be held from 19 ¡V 22 June at Singapore Expo.
