It is designed to enhance the service offerings of Telco
IPTV operators, hotel and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) owners
and catalogue shopping companies who can apply the Scan-Pen
to many applications, including in-room dining, VOD, Karaoke
and mail ordering:
- IPTV operators will be able to offer tCommerce
services through the remote control, a service that was
previously not possible. The Scan-Pen has proven to
increase VOD movie revenue by up to 20%.*
- For Hotels and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) owners,
the Scan-Pen will offer new revenue streams and greater
convenience for guests and residents.
- Catalogue shopping companies will be able to
enhance their offering with a multimedia shopping experience
using the familiar printed catalogue as well as the online
environment and video applications. This enhanced shopping
experience has proven to increase revenues by up to 200%.*

The Scan-Pen is part of BNS' turnkey IPTV technology solution
but can also be installed as a stand alone solution in existing
IPTV systems and other management systems.

The Scan-Pen system is very intuitive and easy to learn
to operate. Colour codes guide users towards the scannable
areas and the ordering process is simple and fast.

The
Scan-Pen system comprises a scanner pen which is connected
to the IPTV set top box (STB) and enables seamless connectivity
between printed catalogues or information pages and online
information, such as web pages and advertising information.
